“Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun.” – Mary Lou Cook
We have followed the lead of great artists like Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh by taking our Art outside! Outdoor Art Workshops are a great option for children of all ages who enjoy being creative in the fresh air!
We start by meeting in our outdoor studio, and then we walk over to Humewood Park, (we are lucky enough to have a beautiful patch of nature right across the street from our studio). Nature becomes our teacher and we follow the Earth’s inspiration by collecting artefacts that will bring our vision to life. Afterwards we head back to the outdoor studio where we have an endless supply of art materials for your child to adapt their learning into innovative masterpieces.
Using both the Inquiry-based learning model, and the Reggio Emilia Approach, we have carefully selected the mediums that your budding artist will create with. Throughout the session, we will engage your budding artist in Art history, discussions on the creative process and encourage creativity through music and age-appropriate literature.
Learning in outdoor spaces has been shown to contribute to the development of a broad range of cognitive skills, including observation and focus, critical thinking, analysis, problem-solving, and creativity.
Each workshop is 2 hours in length, and we allow 1 – 4 children per workshop. You can book a class with your child alone, or with their siblings, cousins or their friends who are in their social bubble.
