We have launched The 2022 Raising Artists’ Drawing Challenge for your child. Your child has the ability to be a part of the drawing challenge with other likeminded budding artists in the Raising Artists community. Any child at any age will be able to participate in this amazing activity.

Your child can either spend 10 minutes per day on one of their drawing, or they can let their creativity run wild on one of their drawings. We have set up the daily prompt for your child, and all you have to do is download the complementary worksheet, and begin the activity.

Everyday your child will draw one thing, according to the daily prompt on the worksheet we have built for you. This will help your child get into the habit of doing something creative every single day, this will assist the child on building on their new skills, or mastering the ones they already obtain.

Children are effective communicators and through the creative arts, children learn to make meaning and freely express their thoughts, ideas and emotions by drawing, sketching and doodling. Drawing acts as a powerful way for caregivers and art educators to understand how a child is feeling. Especially now, we are treading back into unsettling waters, so we would like to help make the best of the situation using the power of creativity!

Your child will need a pencil and paper. You can expand the material list by using a sketch pad, markers, pencil crayons, gel pens, card stock, newspaper, cardboard, or whatever you have at home, and whatever your child feels comfortable creating with.

Pro Tip: If for example we have “A spoon” on the list, give your child an actual spoon to observe and then they can draw the spoon on their paper – these are the beginning steps to understanding how to draw. If your child shows a greater interest in drawing, Raising Artists will be more than happy to give your child drawing lessons. However, let’s see if they are interested first!

Each month you can come back to this page, and download the new drawing challenge worksheet and listen to the new playlist we’ve created for your child to listen to while they are drawing.

You can send us your child’s sketches, tag us in their work
