A few months ago I finished reading “Tribe of Mentors” by Timothy Farris, which I found to be a tremendous read. It was gifted to me by a very good friend but, truth be told, it sat on my night table for months before I even cracked the spine . I was still trying to get through “Hard Choices” by Hilary Clinton, “Alter Ego Effect” by Todd Herman, and “Life and Death in Picasso” by Christopher Green. I tend to read three books at a time, and “Tribe of Mentors” hadn’t made it into the rotation. When my friend asked, for the third time, how I was liking the book, I knew I had to begin reading it. So, on a crisp fall day, my journey  began…

Women Who Rock

Tribe of Mentors” is designed like a cookbook, containing habits, tactics, tools and advice from successful world-renowned individuals, including athletes, billionaires, entrepreneurs, innovators and so many more. The brilliance of this book is based on what you’re looking to get out of it – there’s something for everyone.

Reflecting on “Tribe of Mentors”,  I felt it could be  inspirational for others to read about the paths those in our community  have travelled. I contemplated how I could facilitate this learning, while spotlighting women, business, and creativity. Essentially, I was looking to accumulate words of wisdom from the trailblazers who make us proud to be women.

In our upcoming series Women Who Rock, I have interviewed women in the business, science, art, teaching, hospitality, fashion, and outreach communities doing amazing things. They are only some in a long list of women I admire. I hope learning from them inspires you in whatever way your soul craves right now. I am still on the search, and I have only chipped the top of the iceberg of Women Who Rock, but trust me… I’m coming for you!

So please join me on my adventure as we meet Women Who Rock. Perhaps the voices of women in our community can inspired!

Until then,

The Art Teacher
